COMENIUS MEETING IN SWEDEN
Our school is old-fashioned we’ll change it: our esperienze and plans
We are a group of 5 guys and 2 teachers partecipated in Comenius project. We stayed in Nykoping (Sweden) from the 31st of May to the 7th of June. We are Laura Valenti (3ep) Giuliana Ballerino (4ac) Salvatore Cangelosi (3ap) Sergio Barbato e Andrea Proia (4cp). We flew from Birgi Trapani airport and arrived to Nykoping airport. The project consists of creating a platform to comunicate between european countries. The countries are Italy (Alcamo), Spain (Tenerife-Puerto de la Cruz), Germany (Wuppertal), Malta (M-Cast), Sweden (Nykoping). In the mornings we had breakfast at school, then we spent our time doing multimedia lessons, talking with other members about our Comenius project, our future programmes, our ideas to improve the project and we often had lunch in the school canteen. In the afternoon we went around the city, we visited the harbour and for two days we stayed in Stockholm in a ship hotel. In Stockholm we went sightseeing and enjoyed Hard Rock!The Royal Castle where and the change of the Guard was amazing. When we came back in Nykoping we continued the project and we saw the centre of the town. We think the project was very funny, interesting, it was inportant to develop our communication in English with other students and we compared with the other culture. We got in touch the Sweden school system and we think it is better than our because each student has its own computer given by school so all the lessons are multimedials; students are subdivided in classes according to subjects and everybody has own locker to put in their belongings . We think our school has to improve its system, replacing the traditional lessons with multimedial lessons (LIM, PC) .The desks in the classroom are arranged in a circular way to make easier the communication and the interaction lessons. Our shared conclusions for the future consist to buy 550 computers for the third, fourth and fifth classes. The secretary will think: and what about money? But we have the solution! If we increase the school fees of about 10 euros for the students of the first and of the second grades, and of about 20 euros for the other student, all the money collected will be about 138.000 euros; then if we devide this amount for 550 pc we can have 250 euros for each computer; but surely we will buy each computer 200 euros because of the great quantity, so the difference of 50 euros will be used for paying th interests for the loan. Considered the life of one computer is for 10 years we think it is a good investiment to improve our school system. STUDENTS WILL WIN!!! (Mr. Andrea Proia's idea). Comenius project was a great experience to do again because it allowed us develop communication ability as well as our IT and business competences.
